In ordering a B-Seat or a Build-Seat you are actually building the computer system from scratch.
Therefore it's important to understand the capabilities and compatibilities of all the items you will be ordering.
To learn the capabilities of each unit, go to ACES Website. There is a link at the bottom of the ESD main screen.
Click on the Ordering tab
Then click the Show link under Quick Reference guide
or the Show link under Specification Sheets
Select the detailed specifications and the augmentation options about the product you are ordering.
Now that we know what options are available and compatible for the build that we are ordering
We are ready to go back to esd.nasa.gov to place our order for the B-Seat.
Click Order Services in the left navigation menu or Order Services icon.
If you are ordering the B-Seat on behalf of someone else click Request On Behalf Of...
Enter the individual's first and last name
Then click enter.
Make sure the individual's name is highlighted and click select.
Now the individual that you are ordering the B-Seat for is indicated in the menu bar.
When you are ready to order click Computing Seat Services.
Click B-Seat Computers
To the right of B-Seat (Build) click Request Now.
At the top of the screen are Request Details.
You will see the name of the individual you are requesting the B-Seat for.
Or your name if you are ordering it for yourself.
You should verify the Organization Approver.
If it has not been setup or needs to be changed, click the link.
Select the appropriate Center
and then the Organization and then click OK.
You should also verify the Ship To code. If it needs to change
Click the link and enter the appropriate information.
Remember to save your work when complete.
In the top right are the Pricing Fields. One Time Monthly Recurring 1st Month Total
Currently we are only showing $1.11 which is for the default backup service.
After you go to the APC catalog and order equipment then the One Time price will be filled in.
To order additional services, scroll down and select the different options that are available.
You will also need to select the payment option
Will the B-Seat be paid in a Lump Sum or Amortized?
Now to select the B-Seat equipment, click on the link Build B-Seat in the ACES Product Catalog.
You will actually leave the ESD side of the catalog and go to the ACES Product Catalog.
You are able to select different equipment as a B-Seat.
In our example, if we are to order an HP6560 as the B-Seat
First click on HP Laptop B-Seats icon
Then click Non-IT07 Approved Laptop B-Seats icon
You may need to scroll through the items or go to the next page to find you item.
To select your item, click the shopping cart next to your item.
Your item will be added to the shopping cart. To continue shopping to add more items, click Continue Shopping.
Remember to use the ACES Product Specification Sheets to get the part number for the additional items you wish to order.
Copy and Paste the part number and then click search.
Then click the Red Shopping Cart to add the item to your shopping cart.
When you have all your items in the shopping cart, click Checkout.
Complete all the information in the required fields and then click Continue.
Then click Save and Submit.
You will return to the ESD side of the catalog.
The One Time price will be the price for the equipment you ordered.
The Monthly Recurring price will be for the services.
The 1st Month Total will be the combination of the two.
Be sure to enter Comments and Business Justification.
When you are ready to place your order, Click Submit.
Your order will go through the NASA approval process.
