we continue following the situation in Syria whether it's getting more or less
concerning
I don't even really know it's certainly getting very very odd yesterday the
Foreign Minister
I've Syria while lead all mowlam stated that his country is welcoming this
russian proposal under which Syria would place all of its chemical weapons under
under international control
and the weapons would then be destroyed
serious said today that it has accepted
the russian proposal to do this %uh handed to place these chemical weapons
under international control for subsequent dismantling
this is a Syrian Foreign Minister said after a meeting with the russian
parliament speaker
that is government quickly agreed to the Russian
initiative and they did so to quote up route
US aggression Louis I think anything that prevents
up military action is a good thing
that being said I really can't figure out if this is a situation that is
working in the favor of President Obama
are not in favor of President Obama it appeared as though he was not going to
get the votes
in the house in or that that he was not going to get the votes to
to approve this military strike on Syria that that was proposed
that being said it almost seems like this russian option may be kind of a
bailout work doesn't even have to get to that an already
there's been statements indicating hey you know what we don't need to rush to
do that vote in the house
because we've got this russian option on the table now yes it's
it's interesting I think that clearly Russia
just wants to avoid Tom obviously want wants to avoid any type A
of conflicts I'm how this votes for Obama I'm not really sure
I mean if looking back historically on this site
thank God no matter what happened if we were to attack the country
things would have look bad for him so I don't know
I really not sure what to think about that yeah and you know maybe doesn't
matter
like maybe who cares what this does for President Obama's legacy we should just
be concerned with avoiding military conflicts when they're not necessary
and we should be concerned with what are the facts have this particular situation
in the political implications maybe are important to
the White House did say that a common sense
test dictates that the Syrian government is responsible for the chemical weapons
attack
however the atop aide to President Obama says that there is no irrefutable
beyond a reasonable doubt evidence
which is what me is making people very skeptical my concern isn't so much that
they're isn't
irrefutable beyond a reasonable doubt evidence
that there was that the responsibility for the chemical weapons attack falls on
the Assad regime
I'm more concerned with the fact that it appears that all sides
above the political conflict within Syria have access to or have chemical
weapons and therefore what would we gained with these
limited strikes right well I mean I think we're be its
its that explains that it's not just the use of chemical weapons
that that that has a singer stating in being over there right
as we talked about yesterday it is about resource control
and it is about people control we won't rehash that the next week
is going to be very very interesting because now we've seen
%uh the removable love this time pressure
on the vote from the House of Representatives that being said
President Obama still could have decided
to do whatever it is that he wanted to do regardless of the results of those
they love that vote
so now we have this option I've I don't know if a bailout
is the right term or not but it certainly feels like it in a way anytime
someone does something
that makes it so you don't have to make a decision
it is a in a sense bailing you out hand and this seems to be that situation
we're going to continue following it
and the other question as do is there really should be really trust
that Syria accepting a Russian proposal
is really an honest solution in the sense that it will factually change
anything on the ground
some some say that it is of course those who are putting weight into this
a proposal from the russians including many in the Obama administration but at
the same time I've got a couple of emails from your saying
is the isn't it obvious that Russia is just in cahoots with syria
and they're doing whatever they can to prevent those missiles from coming in
that we shouldn't even trust this
as a solution I wouldn't trust it as a solution not at all
and and you like the russians going to offer proof
that these weapons have been handed over like the syrians you going to do you
offer that proof
will presumably would be turned over to international control so
in hypothetically speaking we would get proof its moral question have
the motives and whether we kind of trust the framework that is in place here that
would prevent
the the strikes
