ABOUT SLANGUAGES
SLanguages Annual Symposium was founded by Gavin Dudeney of The Consultants-E in 2007
and in 2010 was taken over by a committee, lead by Gary Motteram of the University of Manchester.
It is the only conference on language learning in virtual worlds
and show-cases language learning in Second Life and other immersive 3D environment such as Open Sim, World of Warcraft etc.
It is a ‘magical’ conference that goes way beyond traditional conference presentations.
Tours, workshops, demo lessons, performances and theatre plays were all part of the past conferences.
All of the sessions take place in the immersive 3D environment
and are screen shared with Adobe Connect to provide ‘a virtual window’ to a ‘virtual world’.
SLanguages took place for the 6th time in 2012.
Heike Philp says: Dear all, 55 guest speakers, 408 participants (295 inworld and 113 in Adobe)
and 39h of recordings are the proud results of a successful SLanguages 2012.
May we thank you especially, you presenters who provided this high quality program with your freely sharing your know-how.
Recordings All of the recordings have been published on the program...

Our awesome volunteers!
SLanguages would not have been possible without the many volunteers, some of whom worked themselves into exhaustion.
Many, many thanks to Carol, Randall, Marius, Cyber, Karelia, Losairam, Rachel, Inspira, DeeSnow, Osna, Almut
(for our great volunteer tophat!) and to the many who 'volunteered' some 13,000 Lindens.
