Tip:
Highlight text to annotate it
X
under the options tab we've got
name we can name are graphic and a graphic graphics are basically the same
thing as
picture
its use interchangeably
in the documentation so i will probably do the same here
we're going to name are graphic here
I'm going to change this to
TheFrugalComputerGuy logo
giving it a name
he can be useful, especially if we are using the navigator
up here under graphics here's our
The Frugal Computer Guy logo
It can be used for bookmarks and links as well as other things
and given it a name also may help out if you're you
making index of graphics or the like
alternative text, previous link, next link
we're not going to cover them in the writer topic
also protect contents that's not going to apply to this picture but
protect the position and the size
let's protect the size first
and see how that works
clicking ok
I can move the graphic
just as I could before
but, when i go over one of these green
boxes
i get the little "no can do" symbol
I'm not allowed to adjust the size. let's change this
Let's check position
and turn off the size
clicking ok
now i can't move it anywhere
but i can
adjust the size
and of course we can put them both on size and position
now it's locked in place we can't change the size and we can't move it anywhere
properties print
if we uncheck this it won't be printed
and the idea behind that is
you've got a picture with a lot of color on their and you don't want it eating up all your
ink when you are
just printing out a draft of your paper
turn off the printing for that graphic
and then when you're ready to print out the final copy to turn it in for your
grade
turn it into your supervisor / boss
check print
then when we print it
and there it is the graphic now appears in the printed document
before we get to the next one let's move our picture up a little bit here moved
into the middle of this text
we notice how it separates around it
going into wrap
and we noticed that none this is the default we can make it on the
left side
and moving this move over to the center we see that
or to the right side
after they're calling it
or both sides
and if we notice that it's a little tight here we wants more space may be on
our right side
or on the top or bottom
we would adjust that right
along this spacing here, let's go on the right side
we got point two
and maybe on the top
we will make this one
point two five
clicking ok
we notice there is only one line along the top we've got a little more room
here and there on the right
will come back this contour later on
hyperlink
we can make that either an
external URL
something off our desktop
lets link to something on the desk top
clicking ok
now when i'm in the document and if i put my cursor over it
hold down control and click
we see that it opens up our libra office calc sheet
that's explained
well in earlier tutorials
on the picture tab if we flip it vertically
it turns upside down
unchecking it - right side up
on the horizontally
we can flip it horizontally
on all all
left pages or all right
pages
that's all explained in the pages tutorials
and link we will come back to that later on in this topic
crop what cropping is
is a way of
cutting off the parks and picture that we don't want
let's say that we only want this
lower left hand corner
to get that i'm going to crop for my right and mike top
i know that my size
is two-point zero eight inches so i'm going to crop
one point zero four
from the right
and we can see what it's already going to cut off it's going to include only
what's in the picture
and from the top
one point zero four
now my piture is going to be just this much here is just this lower corner
and I'm telling it to keep the scale
clicking ok
we see that it
cut it down to one court of the size
and replace the entire picture with only that little corner of the picture and
you may want to do that with the photo where you just want
one person's
shoulders and head instead of the entire body
going back
let's do it again
but this time let's keep the image size
same thing
from the right
one point zero four
from the top
one point zero four
this time keeping the same image size it will be just is big but it'll be only
this quarter and the full size
clicking ok
and with the scale and image size
you can do more editing as well but the main point of crop is too
cut off to parts of the picture you don't want
borders we've done enough borders that you should know by now
background
seems what we've seen before only this time you can't put a graphic behind it
because it is graphic
and macros we're not going to going to macros in this series
a
