Hi guys this is going to be the tutorial to show you how to do what I'm calling the
granny tears scarf
because the pattern itself kinda looks like a granny square
and it looks like
falling tears
so I just came up with granny tears
but you can make this pattern into a baby blanket
it has ridges as you can see
kinda goes in on tiself
little bit here
it's worked and back
and forth in rows
and I've made
this much of it so far
kinda big
it's barely taken any yarn so you may be able to make this
whole scarf with one skien of yarn
because it works up so fast and two rows and it's already an inch
and it's really beautiful
so to make this project it uses regular worsted weight yarn
4ply for the US and 10ply for AU
and I'm using a size 5 MM hook or size
size H hook
for the US
so get your hook and yarn and lets get started
we start off by chaining
twenty three
or
as big a as you like
this is just
I don't know how much in inches that it is
but let me get my
ruler
says it is
about fourteen cenimeters long
and I did twenty-three chains
but it's worked over three stitches
so
acually it's worked over four stitches because you skip one stitch
so I chained twenty three
that going to give me my start, because I am going to start my first stitch
in the third chain from the hook
and what you need to do
is yarn over
go in through that third chain from the hook
pull up a loop
go through two loops
then yarn over
go into the next stitch
pull up a loop
pull through two loops
then keep the last loop on the hook
yarn over and go into the next stitch
pull through two
now you have four loops on the hook
pull through all four loops
and chain two
now this next one
your going to go in through the next stitch
so I guess it is only worked through three
total of three
so yarn over
go in through the next stitch
pull up a loop
pull through only two loops, leaving one loop on the hook
yarn over
go to the next stitch and pull up a loop
pull through only two loops, leaving three loops on the hook
yarn over
go in through the next stitch
pull through two loops, leaving four loops on your hook
when you have four loops on your hook
pull through all four
and chain two
again
yarn over and go into the next stitch
pull up a loop
only go through two
yarn over
go in through the next stitch
pull thorugh two
yarn over
go into the next stitch and pull up a loop
only pull through two, you have four loops on your hook
pull through all four
and chain two
your basically doing the double crochet, but only pulling through two loops
leaving the third on your hook
your going to go in through three
different stitches
only gathering up
half of the double crochets and leaving the last loops on the hook
and when you have four loops on your hook, pull through them all and chain two
continued this until you get to the end of the row
this is the end of row one
this is what it looks like
now I'm going to chain two
on the end here
and turn
and now you're going to be working in the spaces
so do you like you did before yarn over
go into one space
pull through two loops
yarn over
go into the same space
pull through two loops
yarn over go into the same space pull through two loops
four loops on your hook, pull through all four, chain two
yarn over
continue to do the same
in all the spaces
of this row
and repeat on the next
open space
I'm almost to the end of round two
if you can see here, you have a big space
and a small space created by your chain
this small space created by your chain you want to do a double crochet
into that space
and now you want to chain two
and turn
and again working in the
spaces only
continue this
pattern
of basically doing three undone double crochets
pulling through four loops and chain two
I'm at the end of the
third row
now what i want to do here
at the end of this row
is in this big space here
repeat your stitch again
like you did for your other big spaces
that tear drop in there
then chain two
and turn
and continue to work
the tear drops
in the spaces
and I'll see you at the end of round four
almost done with this
fourth row here
now I'm back to the end again
what I want to do on this side
is find the top of my chain two
and do my double crochet
every other row
every other row is going to be
double crochet on this side and
the other round you'll be putting a tear drop
why you have to do is keep repeating this pattern
again and again
which you can see here
on theside here
it's all
double crochets
here on this side
you can see it has teardrops
once you have the pattern going
you just repeat it again and again back and forth until you have at the
length that you want
and that's it
i'll have the pattern with pictures
on my website that you can check out
