Welcome to APA Style: PowerPoint Presentations.
Here's how to cite PowerPoint presentations in APA Style.
While this tutorial uses the term "PowerPoint" for presentations software,
it also applies to other brands such as Google Slides or Apple's Keynote.
Here we are referring to PowerPoint presentations, or presentations created
with similar software,
that are not published online. These may include your own presentations,
your professor's class presentations, or slides shown in a lecture.
These presentations are listed only in text, not in the reference list.
You may use either example to cite a PowerPoint presentation.
You may notice that this is the same format as a personal communication in
APA Style. Give the initials and last name of the communicator. In parentheses
put PowerPoint presentation followed by a comma and provide as exact a date as
possible followed by a period after the parentheses.
If you do not have the date of the PowerPoint presentation put the date that
you saw or accessed the PowerPoint. Or,
In parentheses give the first initial and last name followed by a comma,
PowerPoint presentation followed by a comma and provide
as exact a date as possible followed by a period after the parentheses.
If you do not have the date of the PowerPoint presentation put the date
that you saw or accessed the PowerPoint.
Remember, cite PowerPoint presentations in text only.
If you have any questions, contact a Reference Librarian, who will be happy to
assist you with your research.
