Hi and welcome to another review!
Today we'll be having a look at Mattel "The Dark Knight Rises" Movie Masters Ra's Al Ghul, which is part of series 2!
This figure has been released in 2012 and it's 6" scaled, it's about 6 inches tall!
Let's not waste too much time on the packaging because we've seen it again and again!
This is how it looks from the front...
...and from the back, where we can see the collect and connect Bat-signal and the other figures from series 2!
And here's Ra's Al Ghul out of the packaging!
Certainly the most disappointing figure in this line!
Not much for the headsculpt, which is pretty good.
Yeah, it's a kinda cartoonish version of Liam Neeson, but I guess we could not expect more from Mattel.
So, not much for the headsculpt, but for the fact that Mattel decided to reuse again the same body, the suited body. Simply repainted, in this total black look, as Ra's appears in the last scenes of "Batman Begins"!
Now, honestly, I would have preferred a ninja Ra's Al Ghul, not much the version with the black "League of Shadows" suit, but the training version, the one seen in the wonderful scene in which Bruce Wayne and Ra's (Ducard) fight with the swords on the ice. Fantastic scene!
Ok, Mattel decided to portray the character as seen in the last scenes of "Batman Begins", when Ducard reveals his true identity.
But the real scandal, it's that Mattel didn't put any effort to make the figure at least movie accurate!
In the movie, Ra's has two peculiarities: a green light-point on the tie (to recall the color of the character's "costume" in the comics) and a scarf along the shoulders, which gives him a "holy man" look.
So, Mattel didn't even put those little details, they simply reused the suited body, they repainted it and put the Liam Neeson's headsculpt on it!
I think it's very disappointing!
Articulation wise, it's the standard Movie Masters articulation: head is on a ball joint, arms can fully rotate and move in and out, rotation on the upper part of the biceps, single jointed elbows, full rotation at the hands.
Crunch articulation, full rotation at the waist. Legs can move forward and back, in and out. Full rotation in the middle of the thigh, single jointed knees and ankle articulation.
As for the accessories, Ra's comes with maybe the most important piece of the Bat-signal, the back piece with all the electronics inside, which allows the projection of the actual Bat-signal.
In addition, he comes with an actual accessory (MIRACLE!) which is this little gas mask.
Now, I don't want to complain on everything, but I would have preferred a weapon, a sword, which I'll try to find from another action figure to complete the look of Ra's Al Ghul.
Here's how Ra's Al Ghul looks with the mask on.
I'm not going to display the figure with the mask on. The headsculpt is the only new thing about this figure and I don't want to cover it!
In addition, I forgot to mention that Ra's also comes with the assembly instructions for the Bat-signal!
Just like the others Movie Masters, you can find Ra's Al Ghul on ebay for about 25 bucks plus shipping, maybe less if you're a bit lucky.
Although it's a disappointing figure, if you're collecting the Movie Masters, no matter if you wanto to put together the Bat-signal or not, Ra's Al Ghul can't be missing in your collection!
That being said, I'll see you on the next video! BYE!
