It’s last Year.
First year of middle school
In ‘89
Exactly when it happened, June 4th
Elementary school
On TV
While watching TV
On June 4th, 1989
At a school assembly hall
[“Freedom Flower” Music: Zheng Zihua ; Lyrics: Zhou Limao]
"Never forgotten, time can’t erase"
"Forever, deep in my heart, I remember that year, that night"
It made a really deep impression.
I was completely appalled.
It was very emotionally stirring.
It was so unexpected.
Of course, it was so abrupt.
One’s own government has no reason to treat its citizens like that.
Very unhappy, very upset.
I didn’t understand why… how this country could be like this.
Quite… sad and angry.
Do all murders have a reason?
Murders committed by the Communist Party are all mass murders.
Actually, the massacres of the ’89 Democracy movement
and June Fourth are relatively small compared to the Party’s history.
Astonished.
I was scared… Because at the time I was watching a video,
I saw when people in Tiananmen were crushed (by tanks).
I want to mourn for the students of June Fourth,
to commemorate their efforts,
and to support reassessment of June Fourth.
I think Hong Kong is so free, we should be like that too.
Because, in China, that’s absolutely impossible.
So, I think, since there is this kind of opportunity,
I definitely ought to come here to support reassessment of June Fourth with everyone.
I’m very excited because we finally have the opportunity to do something for our country, for democracy.
Can June Fourth be reassessed?
Just look at the candles lit tonight,
with each candle comes a flicker of light,
and with each flicker comes more strength.
This is all I have to say; I have no party, no faction.
I depend on my own conscience to do things.
Freedom is critical.
So, as a city resident, every year I come here to walk around and commemorate.
And at the same time, we get the younger generations to always continue on like this.
[“Blood-soaked Grace” Music: Chen Zhe ; Lyrics: Su Yue] "Our blood-soaked grace lies on the flag of the Republic"
[“Blood-soaked Grace” Music: Chen Zhe ; Lyrics: Su Yue] "If this were so, you wouldn’t have to grieve,"
[“Blood-soaked Grace” Music: Chen Zhe ; Lyrics: Su Yue] "our blood-soaked grace lies on the flag of the Republic."
The people cannot forget!
Never forget June Fourth, spread the truth!
