I'm sure you'll agree that was pretty moving stuff... now nobody wants you or your families
to have to go through anything like those who've spoken on stage today.
So as well as making sure you really understand what can happen if you don't drive safely
we also wanted to leave you with 10 practical tips:
1. Start early with Drive iQ brain training - It's never too early to start thinking about
driving in the right way. Drive iQ's online brain training is a great place to start -- and
it's free. Just Google Drive iQ and take a look.
2. Don't cram for your theory test at the last minute -- If you spend more time learning
the facts they are more likely to stay with you. And let's not forget, it's not just about
passing the test but it's about learning the rules of the road.
3. Choose the right instructor - Make sure it's someone you get along with and that your
parents have met them and understand what's being taught. Remember - it's not all about
grabbing cheap lessons! 4. Make sure you get plenty of private practice
- it's really important to get as much driving experience on top of your professional lessons
to reinforce what you've learnt. 5. Don't take the test until your instructor
says you're ready - try to avoid intensive driving courses - as you might pass the test
but you won't be ready for the road. 6. Choose the right car and keep the engine
size small -- ideally below 1.4 litres, especially as this will make your insurance more affordable.
7. Get a black box fitted - The box can be your co-pilot, helping you see if there are
any areas of your driving you need to improve on. You're likely to get cheaper insurance
from the word go - plus, you'll be rewarded with money off for good driving. Definitely
worth a look. 8. Think seriously about post-test lessons
- learning doesn't stop just because you passed your test. I found them useful for getting
to grips with motorway driving. 9. Avoid distraction -- your passengers can
be more dangerous than you might think. Don't be afraid to tell them if they're putting
you off. And I don't need to mention using your mobile at the wheel.
10. And finally remember it's a speed limit - not a target. They'll be times when you'll
need to adjust your speed to match the conditions of the road like when it's wet or icy.

happy driving. Safe Drive Stay Alive
