My name is Wade Henry
I’m the Energy Analyst for Georgia Perimeter College
and I work in the Plant Operations Department.
Uh, my main job is to make sure that we conserve energy
where ever we can and to find new ways
and new technologies out there to help us save more.
And, uh, this costume right here, it’s a Mandalorian from Star Wars.
And there’s 3 different groups that we do to help
with children’s charities.
There’s the Rebel Legion, which, of course, is the Jedi,
the 501st, which is Darth Vader and all the Stormtroopers,
and of course, the Mandalorian Mercs.
I’m a member of the Mandalorian Mercs and the Rebel Legion.
We go all around the country doing events.
Like, uh, we do the Georgia Missing Kids at the GBI.
We do Toys for Tots.
And most of the events we do are for children’s charities.
Another thing I do is I make custom light sabers.
These start out as bare aluminum and brass stock,
and I have a lathe and a mill that I use to machine all the designs.
And these have sound cards in those too.
There’s different grades of sound cards you can get.
And another thing I do is, like, when we go to the events for children
I also teach them how to use the light saber a little bit.
I teach them the basic spins: forward spin,
reverse spin, and do the figure 8.
This is used to deflect blaster bolts. All right.
(Bill) We’re here and we’re gonna do a demo.
Um, Wade, as I understand it, this is pretty, you know,
pretty dangerous.
That’s the reason I’m gonna be wearing sunglasses to protect my eyes,
and hopefully I won’t lose any limbs.
And if I do, I’ll probably be the only one-armed photographer you know.
(Wade) Yes, these are energy blades
so they’re not like a normal metal blade that could probably
just cut you a little bit, or if it hit you hard enough
it could cut you. (inaudible)
(Wade) But these will slice right through you.
It goes right through metal doors and everything, so be real careful
(Bill) All right, so I will keep my retirement plan.
All right, here we go.
(Wade) Your basic blocks are your upper blocks on both sides,
and your lower blocks, the other side. There you go.
And one thing you could do not to get hit is to,
is to, is to duck, so duck.
Then next thing you can do not to get hit, is to jump.
So jump. Okay, you got that?
Bill) I got it. (Wade) All right, let’s do it.
Upper block, lower block, other side,
Duck!
