BRAD When it comes to quality time there is no need to tell a guy the value of the porcelain
of palace. I do some of my most inspired thinking in here.
CLAY But after kids come a long a big shift happens. Now the tub is the dads epicenter
of the porcelain universe and a great place for dads to interact with their kids.
BRAD And that’s why today’s episode is about making tub time fun time.
CLAY Brought to you this week by Boon innovations for modern parents. Great Products. Brad!
You did not! I said Shift. Aw that’s disgusting! Dude you are what you eat. Anyway, really
important for dads to get involved here. It’s a great chance to get involved with your kid.
Especially for you commuter dads. You’ve only got dinner time bed time and tub time
to get time with your kids. Own the bath time. BRAD Yeah the last thing you want is for bath
time to become a battle especially if its your quality time. You might want to throw
a coin at this problem. If a kid is reluctant and scared of the water. There’s lots of
hardware solutions here. Activity centers that attach to the walls. My bathroom is kind
of small so I rely on more of the crafty things. Like right here, I have finger paint, kids
love this they scribble on the walls. And for special occasions there are these tablets
that dye the tub waters. You might think your kid is swimming around in a toilet but is
not like that. You also might want to be careful about the yellow ones because that’s sketchy
and kids could take care of that themselves. You know you don’t have to spend money.
House hold items are great. Turkey baser and this thing that you can make biscuits with.
And the all time favorite, the plastic empty bottle. But if you bring this out your going
to get trenched. CLAY yea Old Faithful, your getting shot with
that. You might want to change before bath time. Put on a new t-shirt.
BRAD Oh maybe you can get your mom to put on a t-shirt and take a bath.
CLAY The whole point is for the dad to be giving the bath. What’s with the t-shirt
deal. BRAD Dude did you go on spring break?
CLAY One thing you didn’t hear us mention about bath time fun was the classic bubble
bath. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that you stay away from this stuff. Especially
with little girls. It turns out that all the dyes and chemicals of this product makes it
more like its cousin dishwasher soap. Unfortunately this can cause irritation and cause a urinary
track infection. And those can be very serious and not fun. So its sad enough but you have
got to say goodbye to Mr. bubbles. BRAD Any experienced dad can tell you that
the low part of giving a bath is rinsing the hair. Shampoo or even water in the eyes drives
some kids nuts. A couple of solutions here, there is shampoo rinse cup from One Step Ahead.
Some parents use foam visors to get the soap out of the eyes. We also understand its hard
to keep the kids head up while pouring water on their head. But its hard to tell them,
look up I’m going to pour water on your head. Put a picture on the ceiling and tell
your kid to look at Elmo. CLAY One question that comes up during tub
time is how often? BRAD To answer that question you have to ask
yourself one question; how dirty are they? CLAY While Brads response on the surface seems
stupid. He is actually on point with this. There is no medical or expert consensus about
how often you should bathe your kids. So its kind of up to common sense. Our younger kids
go every other day, but our older kids graduated to a shower everyday.
BRAD if you have a tip or a trick that makes bath time care free leave a comment you will
automatically be registered to win one of our weekly give aways.
CLAY This week is a really good one, we have a really cool bath pack from boon. Its got
a big scoop that you can scoop up all the toys and rinse off and stores them really
well. That’s all from us here at the lab.
