Choosing a college is such an important decision that you have to remember that it's only
about you. It's not about what your parents want. It's not about what your friends want.
It's about what you want and where you see yourself
fitting.
It's important to find the right fit in terms of the school that you're applying to and
what's their strong suits. Like obviously Penn State's
got a wonderful business school in Smeal but it's also about finding the right environment
for yourself.
Don't be afraid to trust your gut instinct. My biggest mistake is that I applied to eleven
different schools. Some of those schools I never wanted to go to and it would have saved
me so much time and energy to just have cut them off the list.
I mean just visit the campuses. Get to know some people. If you know anyone that is at
the school, visit up with them. Don't necessarily
go on the tours but get to know actual people because then you'll really get a feel for
the atmosphere.
Go where you want to go. You know don't go for names. Don't go for brands. Go for where
you feel comfortable, and where you think that you will have the best experience and
get the most out of it.
