- I think one of the biggest challenges women veterans face
is finding a community of women
who are all trying to do the same thing,
which in this case is grow their business.
We have created this whole sort of tornado together
of success and opportunity.
I just think that Capital One's a great organization to do that.
It's an enthusiastic financial institution
that appreciates, I think, the energy and the dynamism
of the women who are coming back from serving their country.
- My name is Dr. Mary M. Gillam,
and the name of my company
is M2G Dynamic Leadership Solutions.
What inspired me to join a military was my family.
I had a lot of family members that were in the military.
I was in the communications electronics/
information technology business for my entire career.
I really wanted to make a difference.
I had served a lot of leadership positions,
and so part of my business is in leadership development,
and that is what I wanted to do
in giving back and helping people
to develop their leadership potential.
This was a fantastic conference.
I am so elated that I had the opportunity to come.
What I have learned from this conference
is that you really have to know your business.
In order to sell it, you have to know it.
And so when you're able to do that,
people will buy and they will come after you all the time,
but you really have to know your business.
And if you don't have the right skill sets,
you need to get them,
and being in an environment like this
really helps us to develop those skill sets that we need.
