Opposition parties say the Government hasn't done enough
to address the real issues facing families and children.
But the PM says while the Salvation Army report
highlights some areas to work on there are also a lot of positives.
Our political reporter Irena Smith has more.
*** for tat.
The Greens Co-leader Metiria Turei didn't hold back
about the Welfare Minister's lack of response to child poverty.
But Paula Bennett hit back,
saying child poverty is not just an issue
for the Government to resolve and they have achieved many things
to help the issue over the years.
The PM agrees that there are some areas of the report
that they can work on.
No doubt this will be a big issue for all parties
heading into the election year.
