I'm Peter Thaddeus. I'm a painter.
I paint acrylic paintings and murals.
I've always been into art. My father's very creative. He's a decorator and
he's taught me
basic skills as far as artwork goes.
I started painting when I was twelve.
I've been selling my work for thirteen years.
And I just love what I do.
I have my style called Refined Abstraction.
I really start with just the basic line work... Big broad motions.
It just gets the flow of the painting going and then I kind of refine it down to the details.
My artwork is kind of a combination of realistic and abstract so just kind of
refining down to the details. In each painting, it depends on how far I go
as far as making realistic or abstract.
A lot of times it starts in the same place. The "Flight" painting, for example, the background
is done the same as most of my other paintings. Just very smooth and
just broad flowing lines and then the pointillism I threw on after the fact.
The painting itself took me... the background took about two weeks to paint and then
I took another two and a half weeks to do the pointillism on top.
There's about forty or fifty thousand dots on it.
I did a painting like that years ago
and this turned out really well. It just takes a long time.
You know, two-and-a-half weeks worth of painting dots.
So I hadn't attempted it again until this.
I just thought the background is very open, very basic
And I just thought I could to the pointillism to make something really interesting out of it.
My themes kind of vary.
I got a lot of inspiration from my travels. I grew up going to Hawaii so
I love the tropics and
even if I'm not painting something tropical I just love the warmth and
atmosphere so I'll bring those warm colors
into other types of things even if it's not a tropical piece.
Even like a galaxy or some different things, I'll bring a lot of colors in.
The paintings that are here are for sale. I also do giclée prints-- paper prints, as well.
They're for sale at the reception on Sunday December 16th.
We'll be here from two to five
and people can come and purchase
the large paintings as well as the gift items that I'll have here. I like to bring
some smaller paintings and around this time of year I have my hand-painted ornaments
and different things for sale
and just a variety of different things that people can see and purchase and
just experience, along with the large-scale paintings.
I've got my website as well, at ThaddeusArt.com dot com
and people can go there,
view samples of everything that I have here.
It's a way to contact me through
my website as well.
The best thing about it is that I get to do what I love and still eat.
So (laughs)
that's always good thing. I get to meet a lot of people, you know,
through my shows and the openings and everything. You just...
really experience it and...
I just love what I do.
