Hi. We're the Challenge.gov team. I'm Tammi Marcoullier. And I'm Karen Trebon. Here's
a taste of what we've done over the past few years. Music. I get this message and at first
I'm shocked. Like, Oh my gosh, we won. . I never win things like this. (laughs) We won
the Apps for Healthy Kids challenge. We won $10,000 for the grand prize winner. We entered
the Go Viral challenge and, uh, we won $2,000. Music. We did a challenge to map dark matter.
Create novel software applications, or apps. It allows people to get involved, not just
from the technology standpoint, but from a citizenship standpoint. We got some really
fun, creative videos that showed how to navigate different government websites. If we set out
to get somebody to develop an app like this, it would've taken months, maybe years. Music.
Leverage the intelligence of the American people. Create stronger connections between
our government and citizens. Engage citizens in meaningful ways. Public prizes. Transparency
and create a collaborative environment. Being creative, smart and passionate. Give Americans
a chance to make a nationwide impact. Pay only for results, not the hope of a desired
outcome. We're accelerating innovation and creating a more accessible government. Award
a prize only when the solution meets the criteria. Accelerate the timeline to results faster
than a full-scale acquisition. An incredible example of start-ups being able to help the
government when it comes to software development. Challenge.gov is how Americans come together.
Do the impossible in a completely unreasonable amount of time, but drives innovations in
creative ways you could never have imagined. Music. We are the Challenge.gov team at GSA's
Office of Citizen Services and Innovative Technologies. We want to thank all of our
partners and vendors and federal agencies for all of the amazing work that you've done
in challenge and prize competitions. We are the winners of the Harvard Innovations in
American Government Award Cheer.
