It's eight o'clock,
and I have an appointment with Michel for a tourism and culture jogging session.
So I understand the jogging part,
but tourism and culture?
I hope he'll explain a bit more about what that means.
And here he is!
Hello Michel.
Hello.
So what do you mean by tourism and culture jogging?
We are going to go jogging for about an hour,
while exploring the monuments of Metz.
Great, I'm going to learn a lot
and get some exercise at the same time!
The brain and the legs.
Perfect! Shall we get going?
We'll warm up before we go.
Probably a good idea!
Let's go.
That's the end of the warm-up.
Just a few words before we set off.
In front of us is the governor's palace.
A feature of this monument is that it is built of Jaumont limestone.
This is the typical stone of Metz.
But the station district, the imperial district,
has lots of pink sandstone, which is typically German.
Great, we haven't even started jogging
and I'm already learning lots!
And we will carry on…
As we run?
We're off!
Here, we are in front of the Saint-Pierre-aux-Nonnains basilica.
This is a monument that dates back to 322 AD.
Many people in Metz believe it is the oldest church in France.
Originally it was a gymnasium that was gradually transformed
as Christianity arrived in Metz.
In fact Gregorian chant originated in messine chant, created in Metz.
All right, let's go. Shall we continue?
Yes!
It's certainly nice to stop!
Anyway, thank you very much, Michel,
I've discovered Metz from a different angle,
a bit of sport,
but lots of anecdotes and stories.
It was very interesting!
The brain and the legs. Just like you said!
Exactly!
Now I'm waiting for another group for some Nordic walking
on the same type of route.
Ok!
I'll come back another day to try Nordic walking as well.
See you soon!
