Industrial Style Benchwright Dining Table
Hi I'm Stefano del Vechio, and I've been doing business with Pottery barn for twenty-two years
The latest development we've made is the benchwright table
that is inspired by a working table that my grandfather had
in his workroom
and then when my grandfather couldn't use it anymore
I decided to take it in the house
and actually clean it, put it in
my office and use it as a desk and I thought it could be
a fantastic dining piece
and so what we did, in fact, we
we were using the same boards
that he used to build that
using the same hardware pieces corner box
that he used to build his
we purposely didn't go in and fine sand some of the
go in and
fine sand some of the so that we
keep the same spirit
I used this birch wood here
with a lot of knots
and applied a lot of
distressing
so that I can
just feel the same things that I feel when I touch my original piece
still it has a very nice
hand because we apply
like a twelve-step finish
to reproduce the same
patina look that our old table has, a hundred years old
so the effect is very pleasant when you sit around this table and you put your hands on it
you can almost perceive the years
of the actual original table
the look is very unique
the look is very substantial
quite massive I would say but at the same time
uh it's elegant because it's very, uh
straight lines
also practical
because we invented a system
where you can extend your breadboards out
and put this leaf on
uh which is the same silhouette basically doesn't change it
the look of the table at all so I think that this is a very unique collection now
I was very happy and proud to have done this because it kind of brings back
the heritage of I had back in
my house in all my life
