Theoretical physics and cosmology are attempts to formalize reality at scales of existence
too small or obscure to be perceived. They rely heavily on mathematics.
Mathematics emerged as a specialized form of human language.
Call it the rule book for mental abstraction - still, an extension of conscious thought.
Mathematics, then, must have the same coherence limitations as any constructed reality.
In other words, the drive to manufacture coherence from incoherent events does not transcend
mathematical reasoning. The same is true for the writing of physical
laws. Theoretical physics and cosmology provide
experimentation and make other efforts to prove their mental abstractions. Such attempts
are generally based upon mathematical formalization and enhanced perception using telescopes,
detection devices and the like. Physical laws and theories are cases where
formalizations achieve internal consistency. Stories manufactured to provide coherences
more compelling than the incoherence among them.
In this way theoretical physics and cosmology form a modern mythology.
Still, physical laws prove useful, even predictive, because of their contextual coherence.
It is the question of existential coherence that remains open.
Without self-conscious awareness, human languages, realities, and even physical laws do not necessarily
contain the roots of any fundamental coherence. Only with awareness of the nature of our consciousness
and coherent languages does the way open to uncovering the source of the universe’s
true physical nature.
