Dramatic CCTV footage captured a group of masked men storming a hospital in Bogota on
Wednesday. It was part of a daring escape for a prisoner who was being treated by medics
inside. In a scene that resembled a Hollywood movie, security cameras showed gunmen entering
the hospital and shooting inside its reception area, as frightened patients cowered for cover.
According to local media, the assailants escaped with Alexander Urrego, the prisoner who was
getting a check-up. Urrego was reportedly captured in 2011 and convicted for his involvement
in a gang killing. The gunmen fired on the building as they fled, and hospital staff
and one security guard were injured in the incident. A Colombian daily newspaper reported
that four men have been since been arrested by police in connection with the escape. Authorities
have, however, put up a reward of around $15,000 for information leading to the prisoner's
re-capture.
