Although a fairly new organisation,
Informa's roots in the group member companies
go back more than 250 years.
Let's rewind, to London, 1734
when the first issue of Lloyds List was born.
Now the world's oldest daily newspaper
this information is still provided today by Informa
albeit in many different formats.
Informa was created in 1998 by the union
between Lloyds List Publishing and IBC.
Since then, we've grown rapidly through
organic growth, mergers and acquisitions.
The merger with Taylor & Francis
and 2005 acquisition of IIR
paved the way for todays Informa group.
We deliver market leading business analysis
and commercial databases
and publish academic journals.
Meanwhile, our events and training business
is driven by providing large scale
global exhibitions and conferences.
Above all, we're knowledge providers.
We offer a strategic insight to customers
across many sectors including:
finance, telecoms, commodities, law, maritime
sciences, consumer, retail and healthcare
We deliver this content via innovative and
accessible formats, under numerous brands very
successfully to highly specialised niche markets.
And we're constantly expanding into new and emerging
markets, bringing our expertise and knowledge
to different people, regions and communities.
Our vision is to be the world’s best knowledge provider
in all sectors and markets in which we work.
And we think we're well on our way to achieving this.
We provide more than 80,000 books and journals
to university libraries and the wider academic market.
Not only that, but more than 38,000 of these
are available digitally or online.
This means we provide our customers with
the knowledge they need, when they need it
and in the format they want.
155,000 articles a day are downloaded from academic
publishers Taylor & Francis,
that’s almost two per second!
We help our customers save millions each year.
By using our structured databases,
subscription services and
market leading analysis,
they can make informed,
strategic business decisions.
We're one of the most recognised and trusted
providers of exhibitions, conferences and training.
We're also the worlds largest
publicly owned events business.
We deliver around 7,500 events annually,
across many niche markets and sectors.
And each and every one is tailored
to our customers specific needs.
These are just some of our brands.
Each one in our portfolio consistently
adds value to our business and customers.
And we value every single one.
Our four guiding principles reflect what
we believe in and define our goals.
Commercially focused
Acting with responsibility
Freedom to succeed
Excellence in all we do
We believe Corporate Responsibility matters.
It’s at the heart of what we do.
So, we act with integrity and responsibility,
and always aim to make a positive difference
to the environment and communities in which we work.
This means our staff are proud to work for Informa,
even if that means dressing up as a banana!
So far, our annual ‘Going Bananas’ event has raised
nearly £400k for the World Cancer Research Fund.
Our ethos has helped us build strong foundations.
And we'll build on these to make Informa even better
going forward and continue to aim for excellence.
So, by responding rapidly and effectively to
changing customer needs, we will achieve our vision:
to be the world’s best knowledge provider
in all sectors and markets in which we work.
