A group of high school lacrosse players in Michigan is accused of killing a guinea pig and using its blood as body paint, according to WJBK-TV.
Police are investigating at least ten Grosse Ile High School teens who may have been involved in the incident. The teens have been suspended in the meantime, according to MLive.
The alleged animal slaughter was part of a bloody bonding ritual before a game against the Dexter Deadnoughts, the Detroit TV station reported.
The Grosse Ile team lost that game, 13-6.

For now, the school isn’t taking any further action against the ten students involved.
"In cases involving these circumstances, our first priority is to ensure that law enforcement has access to the information it needs to conduct its investigation, taking into consideration all of the facts and circumstances," Superintendent Joanne Lelekatch said in a statement.
"Once law enforcement has completed its investigation, we will be in a position to assess the facts and circumstances and, if necessary, apply our student or athletic handbooks."

She went on to say that out of respect for student privacy, the school will not make any further comment.
"If that's what happened, I think maybe more than suspension should happen. That's the serial killer kind of stuff," Grosse Ile resident Michael Goddard said.
Under the state’s criminal code, the teens could face charges for animal cruelty, which could possibly include jail time since the animal died.
Police say they are still investigating the incident.
