glossary assignments are great because they provide an opportunity for
participants to contribute valuable resources on the topic
resources that will be useful long after the workshop ends
this video will show you how to successfully complete the glossary
assignment
your workshop may include a glossary assignment which is indicated by a book
icon next to the title of the assignment
to see directions for this type of assignment simply click on the title
of the glossary assignment
your glossary assignment will provide directions on how to complete the
activity and how it will be graded
as you can see the directions in this example clearly state
what to contribute
and how (to contribute)
the directions also include grading and revision information
to create a glossary entry
first review the directions to ensure you understand the requirements of your
contribution
for example this glossary assignment requires you to include
two separate resources
and a summary of each
once you've located the resources you wish to contribute
scroll to the bottom of the page
and click add a new entry button
on the add a new entry screen in the concept box type a short description
of your resource
then
in the
definition box
type in
your summary
in this example the directions also stated to you should include a link to
the resource
i'll do that
by
typing in brief note to say see research article i could also put the
title of the article
clicking on the
insert link icon and
pasting in the URL
and switching the target to open in new window
and clicking insert
now this becomes the link
alternatively
if your
contributed resource is a document on your computer
click of the
add attachment button
then click upload file
browse to your computer and locate the documents
i'll pretend this is the document
and click upload this file
you can see the attachment is now there
finally scroll to the bottom
and save your changes
if you need to edit your entry
use the search feature
to locate your entry
i will put in a word that was part of the title
and click search
scroll down to the bottom of the page to see that list of results
here's my entry
i'll edit it by clicking the edit icon that
looks like a hand holding a pencil
make whatever changes you need
if you need to
change your attachment
click on the this icon (next to title of attachment)
click delete
then you use the add attachments
and locate
the actual file
you wish to include
and save your changes
if the glossary assignment asks you to comment on other entries
you can locate them by clicking the all link
in the index
this will list every entry
added so far
to comment simply click on the comments link
below the entry you wish to comment on
type in your comments
and click save comment
the entire list of resources can be downloaded and used by each participant
after the workshop concludes
to download the resources
click on the printer icon
this will show you the list of
all
of the resource entries
then simply use your browser print function
or save commands
to save your lists to your computer
or print it out on your printer
