My name is James Clayton, or "Cheshire" to my fans,
and I'm the creator of Status Quo: Chronicles of a Universe at War.
I'm also the SQ Project Sponsor.
Over the last year and a half I have assembled
a volunteer team of talented artists and programmers to turn my table-top roleplaying game
into a video game,
and bring all of the depth and character from this universe into the mainstream.
We've done a lot of great work so far, and we have no intention of stopping until we're ready to show the world what we've got.
Our project has made it past the first milestone, and now we need help to continue.
In the video game industry,
once a milestone is reached,
the publisher or the studio gives the "go-ahead" to continue funding a game project.
Since we are an independent project:
Our funding comes from the public; from people like you. Our developers tools are a couple of years old, and we need new tools and software
to assemble all of our assets into our playable alpha.
Why is helping us important?
Modern universities offer programming and game design, but not everybody can afford that,
and even if you get the piece of paper there's no guarantee you'll get the job.
We offer our project members practical training, and show them where to look and what to look for online, LEGALLY AND FREE,
and give them motivation and direction to learn more, by showing them direct results of their work,
used in our game. Training for work, plain and simple.
No other project of this kind offers that, and thanks to our unique project model,
We have attracted some amazing talent,
from a Dr. of Music,
to gaming enthusiasts from companies like Gearbox, Disney,
Second Life, and EA; all willing to give advice and jump on the wagon as soon as we go commercial.
With equity incentives for work offered by project members,
we have the talent...
Now all we need are the tools and the money.
We already have a working "Alpha",
and we are assembling our business plan,
but we're not ready to go fully commercial
quite yet; and our tools and workstations are becoming more outdated.
To stay current with developer's technology, we need help replacing our tools and continue making our game,
and giving talented artists a shot at their dream of making a game of their own someday.
We already have developer's kits for:
The Unreal Engine, the LEAP Motion,
and in June we will also have an Oculus Rift,
giving our programmers new and exciting technology
that will set us apart from any other project on the market.
Now is the perfect time to help our team step up our game and bring Status Quo to life.
With your help, we intend to grow into studio with a universe of products:
Comics and Novels,
Roleplaying games and supplements,
Video Games,
Animated films
and merchandising.
