The presidents of El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua, keep in commitment that
the Gulf of Fonseca must remain as a productive and wealthy economic development zone that benefits villages.
The Nicaraguan president recalled that dialogue must prevail at all times.
We must generate wealth, hence we must economically, socially and productively develop the Gulf
and we must recover the Gulf maritime wealth.
The "Amigos de la Tierra" organization established 3 years ago the EcoPesca program
at a tri-national level for fishing communities to conserve
their natural resources and community development.
What implies the communities development? Well, it implies, one way or another, as I said, improving the quality of life ...
We speak then of training and perhaps some kind of resource for these communities?
The project includes the training, it includes equipments to take
advantage of these natural resources.
You are one of the few organizations that are working there
how do you see that the Gulf remains as a peace and development zone?
Well, for us it's practically an opportunity that allows these initiatives
these projects like EcoPesca, to strengthen those decisions that are practically
taken over by government entities
Honduran President Porfirio Lobo, announced its arrival to Nicaragua next week
to meet with his counterparts in Nicaragua and El Salvador.
"We'll be meeting, the three presidents, to look for hope and development to our communities in the Gulf"
said the president
For experts in international law, pressures are made by the Honduran military
although they recognize the leaders posture of peace and dialogue.
We can not hinder the process of integration so well structured and cared by entire
Central America with extremely important interests that tend to benefit the entire region
because of an economic interest matter of a Honduras army particular section
and Central America understands it that way.
Those who hold the SICA presidency have shown no interest in the subject.
