When I wrote a book about 'Les Normes de Castelló' 30 years ago,
which had a preface written by Vicent Pitarch and has been thoroughly exceeded
by the studies of Vicent Pitarcy himself and above all by Josep Daniel Climent,
-both of them will take part in these conferences-,
I do not know if in that moment, 30 years ago, I highlighted the importance
that the historic background had in the existence of that agreement;
the weight that the political environment of the moment must have had
in the strategy of the promoters of such a landmark document.
That is why we still remember it as one of the most decisive documents of our contemporary history.
That political moment also had importance in the significant and pluralist accession
by a large number of people that, in another historic circumstance -it is an hypothesis-,
would not have signed or would not have done it without discussion or controversy.
These are the discussions and controversies that, between Valencian people,
but also in the Principality of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands,
have always accompanied this kind of issues.
