Hey everybody! Welcome to another edition of Learning Stuff! Did you know that December
is the most popular month for marriage proposals? We've all seen it- the dramatic marriage proposal
where the guy kneels in front of the woman. If it's in a public place you know it's going
to be followed by oohs and aahs and clapping. This gesture is immediately recognizable as
a marriage proposal but where did this tradition come from? One theory comes from medieval
days where knights would kneel in from of royalty for awards or medals. Kneeling to
propose is symbolic of this and is considered an honor. Another theory is that it comes
from religion. Kneeling during prayer or kneeling when you enter a church. It has religious
connotations and is a show of respect. Another theory is that it could be a sign of surrender.
Bowing down to a victorious enemy is a sign of surrender. You're surrendering you heart
to the relationship and committing yourself. Now, I probably wouldn't refer to my significant
other as a victorious enemy but that's just me. Anyhow guys in the comments section let
me know how you were proposed to, how you proposed or how you would like to be proposed
to. That's all the information I have on this topic. If you found it interesting hit the
