MIKE: who name their cars are weenies.
My car doesn't have a name.
My name is Mike [INAUDIBLE].
I work in the music industry, and in the audio industry, and
I've created this little bit crazy police car here.
It's a 1988 Chevrolet Caprice 9C1, and the 9C1 is General
Motors' badge, or ID for the police package.
I just fell in love with the car.
Really interesting combination of both analog and digital
technology in the car.
I use kind of old school amplifiers that are just
traditional analog amplifiers, but very high quality.
There's also some digital technology in the car that
helps time align for the driver or passenger's
position, and handle equalization, so that
basically when you're driving the car, it's like you're
sitting in a concert hall.
The one big difference is it's a visceral, amazing experience
to be flying down the road, listening to amazing music and
have all that in motion.
The audio system in the car begins with a completely old
and outdated alpine CD player.
The alpine CD player feeds an Audison BIT ONE processor,
which pipes a USB jack into the backseat of the car, and I
hook up my computer to that, and make any kind of time
alignment of equalization adjustments that I want.
So the critical components of the audio system are located
behind this right rear corner panel.
The Audison amplifier is located in the back here.
This is the JL audio amplifier here that runs the rear
speakers and the sub woofer.
This is the Audison BIT ONE processor that does all the
equalization and time correction the best way to
describe the audio system is to put someone in the car and
play them some music.
It's unlikely that the standard Chevy Caprice, even
the police version, is going to elevate much
in the way of value.
So this was definitely a passion project.
I have invested quite a bit of money in it, but I think it's
something that over the course of a lifetime, we wake up
every day and we have to be passionate about something.
And this is my outlet.
