You have a 10 month old little boy or little girl, and you're working on physical development,
maybe they're getting better at walking and cruising, and they just want to be up and
moving. Hi, I'm Dr. Donna with some advice on how to promote their physical development.
At this point babies are loving- they love to play with things, they love to rip and
tear. So give them all types of paper, let them rip some aluminum foil. They will stay
working on those fine motor skills. Aluminum foil, paper towel, anything that they can
rip and tear is wonderful for those skills, paper also. Give them some rhythm sticks,
instrument, any type of instrument. I'm a big believer in giving them the opportunity
to make their own sound. Put them in there, this baby doesn't hold them, but your child
at 10 months will. Just let them create some noise with rhythm sticks, shakers, rattles.
Also, get a bucket of toys or a little container, pour them out, encourage them to start filling
them, reaching and grabbing for them, putting them in the container. You can also use little
items like Cheerios, and work on those finer motor skills and put them in these little
containers, working on pouring and putting them in. Stacking toys are great to work on
the fine motor skills, and also balls; love balls, any types of balls, big, little, rolling,
throwing, catching. At this point your child will love- No matter what you're doing, when
you use a ball, they will love it. Roll it to them, throw it to them, let them catch
it, with obviously your assistance, any type of ball is great. Kicking game with beach
balls, stand them up. Also start your baby in a sitting position, and encourage them
to pull themselves up to a standing. Put toys on the table out of the reach, and see if
they start to cruise around. You want to work on that lower body strength, and that provides
strength coordination, coordination by having to reach and grab. And last, bubbles, love
bubbles, use bubbles all the time. Big bubbles, little bubbles, sit your child, let them reach
and grab. If they're standard, (standard, that's a new word) if they're walking and
standing, or encourage them to stand and reach and grab, that will also work on upper body
strength, balance and coordination. I'm Dr. Donna with some advice on, how to promote
your babies development, physical.
