My name is Jennifer Reynolds and I was the team captain for the Queens Commerce
team in the CIBC Run for the Cure. I'm Colin Greenwood
on the Queens men's rugby team
My name is Michael van der Westhuizen, also part of the Queens men's rugby team
My name is Alicia Hussain and I was the team captain for Team Fantastic
over at the Faculty of Education
I'm Rosalie Ball
I was the team captain for the Queens Running Club. Hi I'm Kim Wilkinson
Hi I'm Kim Wilkinson And I'm Jodie Snowdon. And we're the proud co-captains of K-Lo's Crew!
We participated in the CIBC Run for the Cure because
our friend and colleague, Karen Logan was diagnosed with breast cancer
I've known individuals who've been affected by
breast cancer
One of the QRFC or the Queens Rugby Football Club's member's mothers was
affected with
breast cancer
I've been touched
by the experiences of 5
women very close to me
who have experienced the hell that is breast cancer
Breast cancer is something that runs in my family
Grandmother has been diagnosed with it
and my Aunt had a mastectomy And to my surprise everyone
on the team knew someone who had breast cancer
To know Karen Logan
is to love Karen Logan
We felt that during this difficult time for her, she deserved to have an army
of support behind her
so we built one!
You know, we just came out
wanting to raise money for breast cancer. Being able to win the Post
Secondary Challenge was just icing on top of the great cake already
It takes a lot
of the veteran players in the club, really
to play a big role to try and support and get the younger guys
to really appreciate the cause
I empathize with those who are still fighting and who have advocates
across Canada
fighting for them
Why not bring more awareness
and raise more funds for something
that really does make a difference
it's great to see that
all our work and
fundraising is getting recognized
and a great event we'll be able to
celebrate everything
we have done this past year
I've always been
really grateful for
the opportunity to increase awareness of this very, very important cause
To recognize all our contributions is
definitely very much appreciated
I would encourage anyone who is thinking about participating in the Run for the Cure
to participate in the next years
I know I'm not gonna stop running until a cure is found. You're making a difference
The CIBC Run for the Cure is 5 kilometres but the fight against breast
cancer is a marathon
