Programs are essential for horse racing bettors.
"I'd love the essentials"
"I'm gonna get your program"
They tell you how the horse ran in pst races and help you choose who you think is best.
The paddock is a barn-style area where horses exercise and prepare for their upcoming race.
"Hey, I got the program"
"Yeah, but what do we do with this thing?"
"I guess we read it. There's useful information."
"You call this useful?"
"It's just numbers and binary code to me."
"Tequila Tiger? Let's bet on that horse."
"Why?"
"I dunno, well, I like Tequila."
"And I like tigers!"
It gave us the opportunity to check out all the horses in the race we bet on to see how they act.
So, horse racing is nothing like car racing where you get first, second, third.
the post parade is when the announcer lists off each horse in the race.
Post time is the estimated time for the start of a race
The horses still get a little more time to get ready for the race
Which also gives time for the last minute bettors to decide on a bet.
A few minutes before post time the horses begin to make their way towards the gate.
The starting gate runs on hydraulics, and starts the race with the simple push of a button.
Just remember, once the gate opens, your shutout.
The gates open simultaneously, and they are off.
Horse racing uses an old forgotten form of measurement called the Furlong.
It was originally created in the 9th Century to assist in the measurement of acres.
The use of furlongs is now exclusively used in horse racing around the world.
Except in Australia, which has since moved over to the metric system.
Essentially, 8 Furlongs is equivalent to 1 mile (1.6 km)
The race goes official, the winning team gets a photo, and you get to collect your winnings!
If you get hungry during the race card, head up to Club West on the second floor.
Featuring daily special, friendly staff, a climate controlled environment, and Las Vegas style simulcast racing complete with HD widescreen TV's.
"Man, we're doing pretty good for beginners."

"I can't even count this much money!"
"Man, I don't... what do we do with all this money we made?"
"I dunno..."
"Hey check that sign out."
"Good idea!"
