Well there is no specific name for our project
we just called our coat drive.
We handout coats to kids
who do not have them because of poverty.
Because our town is about 3,000 people
and a half for the kids at our schools
are on free/reduced lunch.
So there is a great need in our community
for these types of things.
So we collect coats from people
they either give us coats or money.
Now we've had very good results
I've have been doing this for 5 years
and we've given out over 500 coats.
My inspiration for this project was a boy
in fourth grade he did not have a
coat when he came to school.
So I went home and told my mom that this
and she got a coat that I had outgrown
and gave it to the school nurse
and she gave it to that boy.
I would recommend to the community to
take place in volunteerism.
Because it it just gives you the sense of happiness
that you've helped somebody.
And just to see the look on the person's face
after you help them is very happy.
