Today, June 6, is Sweden's National Day, commemorating the coronation of His Majesty Gustav I Eriksson
Vasa in 1523 and the adoption of a new constitution in 1809. Today is also Sweden's Flag Day.
Located in northern Europe between Finland and Norway and adjacent to the Baltic Sea,
Sweden has been a forerunner in environmental preservation. It was the first country in
Europe to establish a national park, the Sarek National Park, in 1909. The 100,000-hectare
area of Kristianstads Vattenrike gives shelter to approximately 20 endangered species and
contains valuable wetlands. We wish the nature-appreciating citizens of Sweden a fine National Day�
