take a step inside
you're gonna see what you would see at a hamburger grill you're going to see grilled cheese
sandwiches
but you'll also see a portabella mushroom burger for vegetarian we got
baked beans you got every Fry you could possibly think of you can go to
the salad bar pick up everything's you go to pizza
I we have a whole grain pasta and a regular pasta and you got a choice is
sauces
a smorgasbord that sure to tempt your palate we make
our bakery products fresh here each and every day in
this bakery you can find who served up freshly
just minutes later at the dining facilities across campus
and we're really proud of the fact that our sandwiches and salads get made each
day after those sandwiches and salads are made then delivered to the cafes on
campus
Some are filled daily in the more than 130 vending machines on campus
those many machines offer a quick options for Iowa State students and
staff on the go
in addition to 20 campus eateries from full service time centers and
restaurants
to the cafes and convenience stores just steps from class and home
our buttermilk brownie and our chicken enchilada soup
we have some really cool Salad coming out. Hummus
if you like to eat food you can find something here
it's not your mom's college cafeteria it's actually a stark difference from
just years ago when menus were limited
they don't have to wash dishes, they just get to show up
pick from different foods which I don't know about your house but my mom did not
have 25 items to choose from it was meatloaf tonight and that's what you got
today ISU Dining facilities are staffed by certified chefs and
dietitians
working with state-of-the-art equipment assuring that every student
including those with special dietary needs gets a meal
if someone has an allergy they have the opportunity to have us
take care of theme by providing those products or
they actually have the ability to when they go around all of our operations
they will see from are seeboard management office
all the info the dietary information calories
all the ingredients and if there's an allergen so if you're watching your
weight
looking for vegetarian options or need a gluten-free diet
your in luck in the case of the All you care to eat, you can go up and say
can I just have that chicken ***
without the bun and then go put it on a salad can I get it without the onions
those types of things and we will do our best to make sure that we take
care of students
they have discerning tastes now and so we've work to meet that that's why
you'll see a Mongolian Grill at Union Drive marketplace
why we have a hickory smoker at season's
keeping students well nourished it's a full-time job that never stops
its 24/7 365 we are kind of a city that never sleeps
on the holidays when everyone else is off or even having more fun
on a snow day we're still here we're still making sure that students get fed
day in and day out the ISU Dining staff welcome suggestions and feedback
from students
work to implement those ideas in their operation
probably at least every month you're gonna see something out there
its new and different and as busy as they are working to prepare meals for
thousands
so too are the students there are peak times from 12 to about 12:15 at Union
Drive marketplace
if you're a very social person that's the place to be because you're going to be
inline and have plenty of time to talk to folks
you come you know fifteen minutes later at 12:30
there you could walk right in the door go around get your food and then you
could sit down
part of what we should try to share with students is sometimes you may see a line
in that line doesn't take very long
and so we do have some signage up that shows people that this is how long
this is actually really a five minute wait we've really is about timing and
about understanding the flow
we studied our peak periods we've up we've increase our students staff
to try to take care that if you don't wanna experience a little bit of a line
or
maybe you have to look a little harder for table then come at these off-peak times you
know maybe it's on
11:30 11:45 instead of noon educating them about how to use their meal plan
with bundles and dining dollars those are two other options for students if
they decide not to eat at the dining centers
so you have the ability to use those meals in in the form of a meal bundle or
a traditional
meal in the residence halls and then you supplement kind of with snacks some things
with your dining dollars
they're studying, their hungry doing other things instead of grabbing just
snacks are things that Ramen whatever they have in their room they can
actually go get a meal
or if your favorite dining center is busy you can visit
another one at the end of the day, we're
just alot more than that plate of food, we are here to take care of you
and whatever that takes, we will do. we want them to be
happy one have a great experience we want them to be a part of Iowa Stae
