This is Richard from expertvillage.com talking about the game of 8 ball and what happens
after the break. This first part that I'm going to talk about should be determined before
the start of the game or before the start of the set and that is what happens if your
8 ball would fall on the break. There are 2 options you can go with option A which a
8 ball on a break consist of a win for the breaker provided the cue ball stays on the
table and does not fall into a pocket or fall of the table. Using this option if you do
scratch or if the cue ball leaves the table then in that case the breaker would lose if
you made the 8 ball on the break. Option number 2 is that the 8 ball on the break would not
count as a win or a lost and what happens in this case is if the breaker breaks and
makes a 8 ball on the break, the 8 ball is spotted and the shooters the breaker continues
to shot from the cue balls position or the breaker may ask for a rerack and break the
balls a second time. Also if you choose this option another thing that could happen is
the breaker makes the ball the 8 ball on the break, he scratches which gives the option
to the opponent. Your opponent could have the 8 ball spotted, he takes cue ball in hand
behind the kitchen and starts his game from there. Or he may have the balls reracked and
the opponent themselves get to break.
