Hi, my name is Zach Shirley and I'm the assistant director for Fraternity & Sorority Life here
at Texas A&M University-Commerce. When I think about leadership and college students, I think
about that fire that leadership ignites inside of that first-time leader who attends their
first leadership conference, takes their first exec position or joins their first organization.
Seeing what leadership can do and how it is a change agent for our students here at Texas
A&M University-Commerce is one of the most exciting parts of my job that I get to see
on a day-in and day-out basis. Not only my fraternity & sorority life students, but with
students involved in student government association, resident assistants, and campus activities
board, just to name a few. The thing about leadership that I really appreciate about
this generation is that our generation of college students now-a-days go after what
they want and believe in everything that they do with a fervent purpose and a desire to
make things better for not only the A&M-Commerce community, but the general Commerce community
as a whole. So if there is one thing I can say about leadership that excites me when
I see our students, it's that fire that is ignited inside of them.
