Hello, this is Linda.
I’ll be showing you how to place a hold on an item that someone has checked out.
A hold reserves the item for you after it’s checked back in.
This view will conclude with using your library account to check on the status of your holds.
If you find an item in the catalog that you want to borrow
but it is checked out to someone else, you can place a hold on it.
Once the items is checked back in, the Library will notify you
and hold the item for about a week behind the circulation counter
I'll search for the book, Head First Programming.
As you can see by the due date, it’s checked out.
To place a hold, I’ll click the title to view the full record
Then I'll click on the "Place a Hold" button
I'll fill out the form with my last name
L number
and myLane Password
The cancel if not filled by box is optional
I'll hit "Submit" to finish my request
You will be notified by email when your item is ready for pick up
You can also view the status of your holds by logging in to your record
Log in to your record by using the Check Your Record/Renew link that’s below the
Library Quick Link box on all the Library’s webpages
Once you’re logged in, click the "My Holds" to view your holds
Note that the button will only be visible if you have placed items on hold.
Use the scroll bar to view your holds
Notice that I have two holds that I placed earlier are ready for pick up
and the hold that I just placed is also listed below
If you have any questions about holding items, please contact the circulation desk at 541 463-5273
