In both CINAHL and PubMed, it is possible to limit your results to practice guidelines.
To limit by this criteria in CINAHL, you must be on the Advanced Search screen.
This is the default screen that you see when entering the database.
If you are currently on a results page, simply click on the “Advanced Search” link below the search boxes.
Scroll down to the “Publication Type” limiter and select “Practice Guidelines” from the menu.
When clicked, the term will be highlighted.
Note that multiple terms can be chosen by holding the control button on a PC. . .
or the command button on a Mac, and clicking the desired terms.
To limit results to practice guidelines in PubMed, click on the “Limits” link at the top of the screen.
Go to the “Type of Article” heading, then scroll to the term “Practice Guideline.”
Clicking on the box next to the term selects it, as is shown by the checkmark.
Multiple terms may be selected simply by clicking additional boxes.
