Anytime you have a clip selected in the timeline, you'll see the video effects options appear.
The Text tab is quite useful. It allows you to place text or titles right on top of a
clip. Note that any text you add to a clip will remain on screen for the entire duration
of the clip. So, as an example, if I want my name to come up on my talking head clip,
but I don't want it on screen for the full clip, this is when that "split clip" option
can come in really handy. I used the Split feature to divide this clip into two sections.
But, if you watch this preview -- you'd never know it was split because I didn't add a transition
or trim the clips at this split point. So now, I can select the first part of this clip,
and click to Enable text on top of this first part. I can enter the text here, change the
font, color, alignment, position, and background settings here. Now when I play my movie -- there's
the first clip with a title -- and then the title goes away when the next clip begins.
