People who Cosplay are like me
They're very imaginative and they like to put their imagination to work
like to execute it in an artistic way
Comic-Con 2005, I was 11
and I kept seeing all these Cosplayers
from this Anime that I was so in love with an I was like...people do this?!
Traci Hines: I got into Anime and then I found out about this hobby called Cosplay and it
was okay to dress up in costumes
outside of Halloween and I was like okay, I'm all about this.
Traci Hines: So I immediately got involved in Cosplay
and I started just going to conventions and I started seeing people
singing at Cons, singing Anime themes and stuff and I was like
I want to do that!
Yaya Han: At Anime Expo 1999, which was my first Convention
I saw people dressed up in costumes
and it with such an amazing revelation that I was like would like this is how you can
express how much a fan you are of a character you can become that character
for just a day even
In 2006 one of my friends told me about Anime Expo
and how much fun it was and how people show up in costumes
and there's like a whole big convention and I had no idea
and ever since then I was pretty much hooked on it.
My first Cosplay experience, Comic-Con, I think it was '95
and I went in what I thought was really kick *** Luke Skywalker costume
and I think I made a tunic out of cut-up sheets
and I'm going to Con going like, Yeah! I love my Jedi costume
and I go there and I start looking around and they're full-fledged
got Stormtroopers, Scout Troopers there's really good Jedi custom
belts leather everything and I get there and I feel like I am wearing pajamas
so sometimes it's a competition but not
to be on stage, it's really just...
Well I got to be the best one there...
