My name is Kate Henshaw Nuttal I am an actress in the Nigerian Film industry
When I finished my university education I started doing some modeling. The catwalk, calenders, magazines and newspapers
I shot my first tv-commercial in 1990, where I got to meet a lot of people in the industry which started me on this journey as an actress
Now I am comming up with my own TV-programme, it is a cooking-program
The AMAA, Thats the African Movie Academy Award will be on for the fifth time this year(2009), and last year I got my first nomination for two films: Rivals and Stronger than pain
and I won the price for the best leading female actress
I felt ecstatic, very very happy and very fullfilled. It was a long awaited award
A lot of people look up to you and they want to be like you. Young girls come and say they want to be like you. They want to act
What are your beauty secrets? Where do you have your hair done? What cosmetics do you use?
It is nice that people want to know about you, but it puts so much preasure on you
Especially when you have to dress up from your shoes to your necklace
You have to be always nicely dressed all the time
It feels really nice to be appreciated for your work and to be loved for being who you are.
Many people wants to be your friend but the downside is that there's no privacy at all
There was one time at the market, a man came to me and began talking
I am calling my wife, she wants to talk with you
That is our electricity that has gone
The generator will soon come on
I am one of ambassadors for charity called Project Alert. It is about violence against women and children
I tell people that it is not right to hit a woman or *** a child or put them out in the street
All this come to mindset. People do not have the right knowledge. Women do not have the power to stand up for themselves
They are being made to believe that a woman is to be seen and not heard
They can only go around and do their work, but they are not allowed to speak you cannot contribute to any important issues going on in your society or in your home. Which I feel is very wrong
