A massive fire has engulfed an apartment complex in downtown Houston in Texas. Firefighters
frantically worked to contain the enormous blaze that ripped through the building, which
was under construction in West Dallas near the Montrose area. Huge flames and a thick
cloud of smoke were visible from miles away.
Local media claim the fire broke out around 12.30 pm on Tuesday and quickly grew, engulfing
the entire complex.
The building, which is thought was going to become a luxury apartment block, is located
in a heavy residential and business area, but was unoccupied.
Around 200 firefighters and emergency staff responded to the scene and the Houston Fire
Department says no injuries were reported, although a construction worker had to be rescued
from the third floor.
An investigation is underway to find out what caused the massive blaze.
