I have an amazing daughter that wants to help kids that she doesn’t know that have cancer
and how do you as a parent not want to something like that with her? We moved to a new school
after she shaved her head last year and a lot of kids made fun of her and it didn’t
stop her she wants to do it again. Third time I’ve done it yeah. No I’m not nervous.
We hope to get a lot more kids involved and helping. So we have been here every year for
the past 6 years. Close down the salon it’s just kind of become our thing I guess or the
way we try to help out. It kind hits your heart strings a bit when you see these little
gets who just got their hair back and they shave it again. Or when they are supporting
the other kids. Hope other salons step up and do something find their thing to do. This
Is kind of our thing since day one it’s been out thing so if everybody did something
in the community I think it would change a lot. Some of our patients are affected by
cancer they begin their journey in the ER and have some of their worst days in the ER.
But probably this year one of our colleague was affected it was kind of a team building
effort for us to support our friend and colleague. We had a raffle to see who could shave my
head and Dona won it and like I said Dona and I go back a long time so I am not sure
what her motives were. We got a couple docs a couple of nurses we got a couple administrative
assistants. I think even a resident or two so really it’s a cross section of our department.
Again to support an individual very close to our hearts, it was an opportunity to do
something when there isn’t a lot you can do. It feels pretty good it’s been a long
time since my hair has been this short but I am sure I will get use to it.
