Hi, everyone. Welcome to the Fall Activities Fair.
Awesome, great.
We’re an on campus south Asian dance team, and basically I dance in customs
throughout India, and we compete all across the nation spreading our dance form as we
go, and we’re recruiting some freshmen at the Fall Activities Fair today.
I’ve signed up for Quidditch. I think it’s always been something really interesting to me
because I’m a big fan of Harry Potter, and my school did it every now and then, so I
figured I’d give it a shot. We’re giving away highlighters, pens, and post its.
You never run out of free school supplies.
We’re the Undergraduate Council for Gender & Women’s Studies.
We connect the students to the professors of the department, and we also do some
events throughout the year. We volunteer at the Sojourner house, and we teach the
Sisterhood and Feminism course there.
Ice cream, ice cream, ice cream…
The biggest thing we’re about is we’re about fun. It’s about having fun, having a good
time, we have a lot of fun events. We love getting a chance to minister to a lot of people.
What we’re doing here is we’re trying to get students who are interested in film
together, so that they can meet one another, and we can give them advice on classes,
what they could do after graduation.
We’re the UR Kendo and Iaido Club. We are a Japanese martial arts, think Samurai.
We’re here to try to get some new members.
We also get together to just talk about movies and explore what we love about film, to
make movies, to watch movies, and to everything similarly related.
The school has this observatory which is about an hour south of here, and we go down
there once or twice a semester and hold other events geared towards star gazing and astronomy.
I’m the vice president of SALSA, Spanish & Latino Students’ Association. Within that,
there’s SALSITA which is for the freshmen. It’s a junior E-board. You learn about how to
make events, and there’s SALSEROS which is the dance group. They perform at many
events. What we do is spread awareness of Spanish culture on campus.
Anything else you’re going to sign up for? Climbing.
We’re the Women’s Rugby team, and we’re here today to recruit a lot of new players
because we’re always looking for new people.
Water polo.
We’re here because we want all the freshmen to come join the ASL club whether they
know any ASL or they’re just interested or in class or not. So, you should come join!
I signed up for the Volleyball club right over there, and OBAC which is off Broadway on
campus. Rowing and Quidditch. So, we really like the activities fair, and we think it’s a
great way to show what UR has to offer here.
We’re like a big family.
