Creating content that is completely original is the best protection against
copyright infringement claims.
Yup, you created some amazing content, but when submitting your video for
monetization, you must clarify your commercial usage rights to any and all
content in your video.
This includes, but is not limited to, music, visuals, photographs,
video games, movie footage, and performances.
If you aren't the copyright holder of all your content,
you will need to prove that you have obtained commercial rights or provide
documentation showing you have permission to use the content in question.
"Fair use" is an important topic.
In the United States fair use of copyrighted
material is allowed under certain limited circumstances.
It can be a complicated subject so make sure to do your research.
If you are uncertain as to whether a specific use qualifies as fair use, you should consult
a qualified copyright attorney.
Take a moment to consider everything that you put in the video.
Was there a song? Was their footage from a movie, TV show, video game, or other YouTube video?
If so, you may be infringing someone's copyright and you could get a copyright strike
or have your YouTube account terminated.
