The character of Bert in the show does play quite a larger part,
he is the narrator of the piece.
He is there and helps facilitate some of the magic that kind of happens.
The audiences here are unlike other countries',
They really take in the whole experience of the night out on Broadway.
I find that other countries are kind of like
they get to the theater and they sit down
and they're like lets go enjoy a show.
Whereas here, on Broadway, it's like, "Let's enjoy the night!"
So they've already got their own energy buzzing before
the curtain even comes up, which is really exciting
because you know, you can feel that onstage.
As much as we give you guys, we kinda get back.
I do have a particular moment in the show that is my favorite
and that favorite scene would be the one with Mr. Banks.
We call it the "gingerbread stars scene,"
and it is a real moment where Mr. Banks is going on about
how he has just lost his job at the bank,
or thinks that he is about to lose his job at the bank.
And Bert kind of turns around and goes
okay, but you've got kids there
and if you keep spending this time thinking
about how hard life is you're going to miss them growing up.
So, think about that. The spoonful of suger that you can have with your family.
You've got to do it now.
There are definitely messages from the show that I hope people leave with.
It really is about, and it's probably perfect for,
this time that the world is going through right now.
Yeah, Bert's got a great line in the show,
Mary says, "So you're a chimney sweep now, are you?"
And, you know, he's covered in soot and dirt
and you can imagine in those times that this would be an awful job to have
But the first thing he says is,
"Best view in the world, eh?"
"And who gets to see it, the birds, the stars, and the chimney sweeps!"
It would be nice to kind of look at stuff like that
I think that there'd be a lot less hardship in life
if we all, kind of, took the other side.
We could all let go of some of the negative stuff and some of the bad stuff
that's happened in the past and go, "You know what?"
"Let's not dwell on the past, lets create something new for the future."
I think that that's really what the show is saying
