Hi. My name is attorney Chuck Boyk.
I've been an Ohio personal injury attorney for the last 29 years.
The majority of my practice are personal injury cases. I've handled
over 5,000 cases to conclusion.
In this time of the year, especially in the winter, we find a lot of drunk
driving accidents,
and what I want to talk about with you today is what can you recover
in a situation where you're hit by a drunk driver.
Under Ohio law, you can recover two types of damages. The first type of damage
is compensatory damages. Compensatory damages allow you
to recover compensation for
medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering,
and then if you have medical evidence, future
permanent injuries and future lost wages. The second typeof damages you can
recover are called punitive damages.
The purpose of punitive damages are to punish the wrongdoer,
so in this type of situation, Ohio law
allows us to collect money from a jury
to punish the drunk driver. It's often important to get an attorney in a
situation where you've
been hit by a drunk driver because an
experienced personal injury attorney can use this bargaining leverage
of the punitive damages of the drunk driver to
vastly increase the recovery you could get against a drunk driver
by utilizing the
responsibility that the insurance company has in representing
the drunk driver under the insurance policy.
We wrote a book called The Ohio Accident Book.
In The Ohio Accident Book, we describe what your legal rights are,
how to maximize your recovery, and the seven
secrets that insurance companies use to try to keep
you from receiving fair compensation
under Ohio law. Feel free to order this book, either a PDF on-line,
or we'll be happy to send you a copy of the actual book that we wrote.
In a situation where you're dealing with a drunk driver,
the more information you have, knowledge is power, and we would ask you to
call us today to get a free initial consultation
and get a copy of the book. Thank you.
