Well, you come in, it's Friday, and you get this
E-Discovery Requirement InDesign from Adobe. For the forthcoming litigation,
we'll need to perform a comprehensive E-Discovery. Please get me, as soon as
possible, all documents, including Adobe InDesign files,
that contain one more of the following keyword terms. In this example, we just
used FlightCheck, Preflight, Quality, Patent, etc.
Thank you, The Legal Team.
Now, if you, God forbid, ever get involved in a legal matter,
you're going to have to require and do an e-discovery. So, here they want us
to, in this example, to look inside of all of our thousands of InDesign files
on this machine, and maybe even thousands more on other machines,
for these keyword terms. How could we do that?
Well, you have to open every individual InDesign file,
do a Command-Find, or a Find, in each file,
and try to find these terms. It would take you days, if not
weeks. Don't worry. Markzware has a solution
in the new PageZephyr Search for Adobe InDesign. It's a stand-alone app. You just
double-click it
and it opens up with a rather simple interface, yet very powerful.
We don't even need InDesign on the machine to use it. That's the beauty.
So, anyone can search a drive or drives which have been indexed,
which we've done up here, via PageZephyr Search for InDesign
on the Macintosh. So, now, we can start searching for those keywords,
which are in all of our InDesign files. Here, we have found 36 documents
that have the keyword Preflight in InDesign files.
Amazing! If I had InDesign, I could even right-click or go
Edit > Show Selection in Document, and it will launch and go right into InDesign,
exactly to the problem, and exactly
to where it is in the document. Amazing!
There, you see it,
right into page 3, which is actually page 4 or 5,
as you can see here in the document, and then it goes and
even selects the term Preflight. So, we know exactly
where we need to go and look at the context
of the content. Very important in legal matters and e-discovery, as well. What
will be even easier for many of you now, with PageZephyr Search having
indexed everything on this Macintosh, it is now possible, via the Finder
and the Spotlight technology in Apple,
to find, via common search
on your Macintosh via Command-F,
it'll now find as Kind also... Let me cruise down...
all InDesign documents that are using the keyword Preflight. We can now
select these, Command-Alt these all out and
make copies and put them in a folder and send them off to the legal department
for the people doing the e-discovery for this
fictitious law case here, this fictitious litigation or lawsuit.
E-discovery is very important and searching inside of InDesign files is
equally as important.
Find keywords, without opening InDesign, with a snap of the fingers,
with Markzware's PageZephyr Search for Macintosh. Best of all, PageZephyr Search for InDesign costs
