bjbjLULU You found art. But you are not in a hopeless place ........I heard your "S.O.S"
through a lot of requests and today, I am going to be your artistic "Umbrella"........I
am going to give you simple, easy to follow Step by Step instructions on how to draw Rihanna.
My steps will be so descriptive, someone with limited artistic experience can create a successful
drawing. In other words, its not going to be "Hard". You will also learn about S&M in
this video. S stands for SHADING and M stands for MODELING and the proper use of both will
allow you to create areas of light and shade, and achieve a likeness of Rihanna. All you
have to do is grab a pencil, some paper.....and ....."Watch n Learn". We are not going to
let this "Good Girl go Bad", your drawing is going to be "the hotness". What's that
Rude boy? You "love the way I lie"? HUH!.... If you need proof, hit the button that says
playlist to look at some amazing video responses from my viewers. But I promise that I don't
just "talk that talk" I walk that walk! So don't play Russian Roulette with hit or miss
drawing instruction on YouTube, subscribe to kazanjianm for quality art instruction.......And
silly introductions like this one. Step 1: Notice the perfect square that is formed between
the center points of Rihanna's eyes and the two corners of her mouth. Start your drawing
by making four dots on your paper that form a perfect square. Step 2: Make the circles
exactly as you see them. No, Rihanna doesn't have a floating eye, just trust me. Step 3:
Put in the shapes for Rihanna's eyes. Notice how the new shapes overlap the circle shapes
from step 2. Step 4: Add the eyelids. Step 5: Rihanna has a contract with Cover Girl
so add a lot of mascara to the eyelashes. Step 6: You need to do two simple things for
step six. Center the pupil for the eye on the left and connect the two lines for the
mouth. Step 7: Add the M shape for the upper lip. Notice that it's height is similar to
the height of the white part of the eye. Step 8: Add the banana shape for the bottom lip.
Notice that it is about twice the thickness of the upper lip. Also, be sure to notice
the shape in between the two lips. Step 9: Now add Rihanna's nose. Oh relax, this is
the hardest thing that I am going to ask you to do. Notice how the septum fits perfectly
in to the indentation at the top of the upper lip Also notice that the nostril line is about
two thirds down the square shape that we began with. Step 10: Add the eyebrows. Step 11:
Now its time to add the chin. Here is a tip to make it easy. Measure the distance from
the eyebrows to the bottom of the nose. It will be the same distance from the bottom
of the nose to the chin and from the hairline to the eyebrows. Step 12: Give Rihanna her
Marge Simpson hair. Hair moves all the time. Do not feel the pressure to copy the hair
in my drawing perfectly. Step 13: Rihanna has an album called "Loud" so I guess that
we should give her ears. Notice that the ears line up between the eyebrows and the bottom
of the nose. Step 14: I promised you S&M so now its time to shade and model. Lightly put
in these shadow lines around the eyes and the nose. Step 15: Don't draw yet, just watch.
You will have a chance to draw at the end of each step. We are now shading. Take a close
look at what I am doing. I am moving my pencil back and forth and adding line next to line.........next
to line. This method is called cross hatching. I want you to do some light cross hatching
inside the shapes that we just added. The tones on the eyelashes and eyebrow will be
the darkest areas. Rihanna has green eyes so only parts of the pupil and iris will be
as dark as the eyelashes. The white drawing tool that I am using is a blending stump of
condensed paper. I use it to blend the hatched lines together. You will also see me use a
paint brush. Take a second to observe the tones that I just added and you will have
a chance to match them in a moment. Click this link if you feel that you are messing
up with your shading. It will give you an easy, quick way to fix things. I recommend
that you watch this part at least twice and read all of the annotations. Here is a link
to get back to the beginning of step 15. If you are ready to try cross hatching, pause
the video now. Step 16: It is now time to shade the side of Rihanna's face. But.....Hot
tip: Don't give her a beard. No tone should become as dark as the eyelids above her eyes.
We are hatching here to round the shape of the face. Notice that the shading at the chin
gets very narrow compared to the cheeks. Use the eraser to keep the edges sharp. If you
wish, use a blending tool to smudge your hatching. Step 17: The forehead is pretty simple. There
is a shadow on the right hand side that gets as dark as the shading directly below it.
The left side has a more subtle shadow, but it does exist. The top of the forehead also
has a slight change in tone as it begins to curve back. You should even cover the highlight
areas with some soft hatching. Step 18: we will shade the bottom part of the face. Notice
that the only dark part on Rihanna's lips are at the bottom of the upper lip and in
the corners of the mouth. The good news is that if you do go too dark, you can just say
that it is lipstick. I recommend that you only hint at the teeth. The inner part of
the mouth should be darkened only at each corner. I used the blending stump mostly on
the lip. Notice that I rounded the lip as I shaded. For the rest of the face, I am covering
all areas with a little bit of cross hatching and smudging. I will lighten them again later
with my eraser. I am gently darkening the areas next to the ears, at the chin and under
the nose. Don't go overboard with the shading. Press lightly on your pencil and slowly build
up your tones. Start looking at other areas of your drawing and compare the relativity
of their tones. I will put the reference image up again in a moment so that you can do your
analysis of the tones. Quick favor, if your surprising yourself with your drawing please
hit the like button. Pause the video now. Step 19: We are shading the ears. Personally,
I agree with Van Gogh. Drawing ears is so boring, I want to chop them off. I actually
once wrote a small curse word on the ears of a very good drawing to see if anyone would
notice it. Nobody did. If you are an ear perfectionist, hit the link to watch this video. If we both
have a mutual indifference towards ears, then quickly try to match the lines and shapes
that you see and move on. Step 20: Its time to draw Rihanna's hair. I am starting out
with a pencil and I am indicating where the curls are going to be. Don't worry if you
put them in a different place. These marks will soon be translated in to the darkest
tones in the hair. Notice that I have neutralized all of the hair in to a half tone before I
continue with a graphite stick. All a graphite stick is, is a big pencil. The size lets me
draw faster. You can do the same thing with a regular pencil, it will just take longer.
I will put a link to supplies I use in to the video description. It is ok if the hair
is left on the dark side, the reference photo has a lot of light on the face and much less
shining on the hair. I recommend that you leave a few indications of highlights, but
any highlight should be darker than the darkest shadow on the face. This is a time consuming
step, invest in a graphite stick to speed things up. Step 21:You are almost finished.
First, let me say congratulations to you for your persistence and dedication. I did not
start drawing and painting until I was 20 years old. And I knew that I had to stay with
art because I couldn't stop drawing and painting. If you feel the same way keep going........that
means that you are an artist of some sort. Don't deprive yourself, the world needs people
who add beauty to life! A lot of the things that we went over in this video can be applied
any time you draw, such as breaking an image down in to shapes. But now, I want you to
focus on the entire image of Rihanna. Forget mine and compare yours with the reference
image. Specifically, compare the tones and the quality of the edges. The tones are the
lights and darks that make up an image. I want you to ask yourself questions like, "Are
the darkest areas of my drawing similarly shaded to the darkest parts of the reference
image." Do the same with the highlights and all of the other tones. Please know that there
is a limit to the darkness of a regular #2 pencil. You can buy darker pencils online
and I put my recommendations in the video description under supplies I use. Now turn
your attention to the edges. For instance, compare the soft edge of the eyebrows to the
hard edge on Rihanna's chin. Do that for other edges in this artwork. I will post a large
version of the reference image at the end of this video. Now I have a request. If you
successfully completed this drawing, please post it as a video response to this video.
I do my best to shout out as many video responses as I can and I hope that you noticed that
I linked to several in this video. Also, please "like" and "favorite" this video, I put a
lot of work in to my videos and doing that will show me that you want more of this type
of video. I will do my best to answer all of your comments, so please feel free to comment
below. I want to thank you for watching. I hope that this helped you! h[HD You found
