As expected, smokers will be hit hard in the pocket.
The price of cigarettes will increase every year
for the next four years by 10% each time.
That means an average packet of cigarettes will cost more than $22.
The announcement has been welcomed by anti-smoking groups.
The Government can take it up again by 30%. I think that would be good.
The Government is just mucking around.
Honestly, they gain so much in tax from cigarettes.
If they really want it to in NZ, don't bring them into the country.
The first increase will occur on 1st January.
